What many don’t know is, in early part of 17th century British wanted to develop another city on east coast of India apart from Calcutta, to take care their trade and Administrative interests and they found Machilipatnam as the most suitable town as they already had their factory there and they were proceeding in that direction around the year 1630. Nizam also allowed them in their endeavor but the local Nizam’s men harassed the British to the hilt. So they moved further down south and taken five villages from a Telugu Naikar on lease and built Fort St. George around 1640 which later came to be known as Madras and now Chennai. The result is, Machilipatnam which was to take the place of Madras, lost it because of people’s own making and Andhras have still not made a final halt in their Capital even after nearly 400 years. Sadism on the part of some leaders could be the reason?

Kannadigas have played a great role in neibhbouring sister languages and cultures
WhenThe Great Madurai Meenakshi temple was captured by Delhi Mughals and when there was wide spread torture and destruction and almost total collapse of Tamil Culture, the saviour came in the form of A Kannada Royal Prince of the Vijaynagar Empire
Prince Kumara Kampana son of Emperor Bukka Raya came all the way 700 kms from Hampi in Karnataka with an army and very tactically and bravely defeated the sultan army He killed the Sultan with his own hands re historical details are in the Sanskrit work Madura Vijayam written by Ganga Devi or Gangambike the young wife of Kumara Kampana who refused to stay back in Hampi and accompanoed her husband all the way to Madurai
The Arab and Persian Travellers have also recorderd this event
This was followed by renovation of the Meenakshi temple Tamil culture was forever changed and influenced from then on by Vijaynagar culture in terms of Music(Karnatic music)Food and Cuisine Dress etc etc What we see in Tamil Nadu is the composite of Pre Vijaynaagar Tamil Culture Plus Vijaynagar culture
But both Tamilians and Kannadigas have forgotten the brave Prince Kumara Kampana!!!

Another event where Kannadiga saved Tamilian was the saving of Tiruvannamalai temple by Kannada Hoysala King Veera Ballala III when Tamil Nadu was attacked by Malik Kafur of Khliji Dynasty Malik Kafurs army had defeated all Indian Kins from North to South but Veera Ballala III stood against the Khiljis for 30 long years .Even to this day the temple celebrates this event

The great Hoysala Emperor Visnhu Vardhana gave refuge in Melkote Mandya and in Mysore to Saint Ramanuja Charya thousands of Tamil Brahmins and others who were sent out by Chola King This community integrated into Mysore culture and are an integral part of Karnataka J Jayalalitha former CM of TN is from this community

The great Mysore Wodeyar dynasty over the centuries gave refuge to thousands of Scholars Musicians Artistes Sculptors Doctors Teachers Engineers Workers from Tamil Nadu into his rich and prosperous Kingdom whenever there was drought in Tamil Nadu

Telugu language owes a lot to Kannada Chalukya dynasty The Vengi Chalukya dynasty one of the major ruling dynasties of Andhra People was began after the Great Kannada Emperor Pulikeshi III gave half of his kingdom to his younger brothrer Kubja Vishnuvardhana after defeating the mighty north indian king Harshavardhana .This vengi Chalukya dynasty encouraged telugu language. Telugu script of today is derived from Kannada Kadamba Script forme during this period

The great Kakatiya Dynasty of Andhra was statred by Kakatiyas who werte from Kakati near Dharwad in Karnataka

Two Kannada Kings Immadi Deva Raya and Krishnadevaraya(Tulva) of the Vijaynagar Empire were the greatest supporters of Telugu literature Without these two Telugu would not be half of what it is today

Marathi language develpoed by Kannada Prakrit interaction when Prakrit made inroads into Kannada speaking Sub Vindhya area of India Gradually Northern parts of larger Kannada areas took up the new language Marathi . Shivaji Maharaj ancestors were from Karnataka from a village near Gadag .Bhosle the surname of Shivaji is a derivative of Hoysale the name of the Hoyasala dynasty. Mumbai was built by Kannada Shilahara Dynasty Mumbai(Munde iruva Bai refering to the mouth like port ) Borivili (Borahalli)Khandivili(Kandahalli) etc are Kannada wordsThe great Seuna Dynasty of Maharastra was a Kannada origin dynasty

Urdu language originated in Bidar in North Karnataka Its earliest name is Bidari

Karnataka kings welcomed Goan Konkani Hindus in large numbers when they were sent out and persecuted by the Portugese Inquisition Goan liberation movement against Portugese had major presence of Kannada freedom fighters Goa was ruled by Kannada Kadamba Kings for 450 years

Bengal was ruled for 300 yesrs by Kannada Karnataka origin Sena Dynasty Bengali literature got its boost under Kannada Kings rule Dhaka todays capital of Bangla Desh is named after Dhakeshwari temple built by Karnataka origin King LaxmanaSena

Greatest King of Nepal Nanyadeva was Kannadiga from Karnataka

whatever be the history, I’m happy for the integrity of TELUGU-TAMIL RELATIONSHIP. especially in CHITTOOR, NELLORE, VELLORE, THIRUVALLUR,KRISHNAGIRI DISTRICTS. all people of these districts knows both the languages and help each other in conversations. presence of tamil in tirupati helps tamil pilgrims. and locals of chennai, vellore immediately answers in telugu when we ask something in telugu. pride of both states

    1. Bunbogu suki

@Rky let me clear you one thing… I’m living in Nellore n I don’t think the people of Nellore, Chittor, etc., Know Tamil actually we cannot even understand Tamil except very few words… But in fact I’m a telugite n I’d would love to learn Tamil and it is one of my fav languages too. I appreciate the fact that we had n we must have “Telugu-Tamil intergrity”which you have mentioned earlier ?

Andhra history didn’t start in 1953. Andhra region of the subcontinent, generally described as the land of Krishna and Godavari rivers, and south of Narmada river. This land evolved in to seperate entities later – linguistically, the north western marathi speaking maharashtra and the south eastern telugu speaking telangana. More or less, telangana (linguistic origin) and andhra (old historical origin) are two different names for the same land. Before 1953, many organisations in telangana region are called after Andhra – Andhra mahasabha, Sri Krishnadevarayandhra bhasha nilayam, Andhra mahila sabha, Andhra Jana samiti. Almost similar ironical situation can be seen with the names of the modern subcontinental countries. India derives its name from Indus, greek name for river Sind. Now this river is located in Pakistan.

Coastal Andhra and Rayalaseema were separated to form Andhra State in 1953, while South Canara and Bellary districts were merged with Mysore State, and Malabar District with the State of Travancore-Cochin to form Kerala in 1956. On January 14, 1969, Madras State was renamed toTamil Nadu, meaning “Tamil country”.

    History of Andhra:
    Year – capital city
    Before 1953 – Madras
    1953 -56 – Kurnool
    1956 – 2014 – Hyderabad
    2014 – present – Amaravathi

Andhra region don’t have identity, For last 400 years capital of Telangana is Hyderabad

@cosmo56 To call anyone fraud without being chargesheeted or prosecuted in courts, how far is correct is left to one’s wisdom. If Chandrababu Naidu is really fraud why no one is able to unearth the frauds all these years and take further legal action and many legal cases filed against him did not stand in the courts. Even in case of Jagan who is now holding Hon’ble position, no negative things should be said against him till completion of the court cases and if he is acquitted, all honour should be extended. Regarding investments in Madras and Hyderabad, it was one way flight of wealth from Andhra side. No noticeable investment was there from Telangana business men in Andhra area in 58 years, same way no investments were there from Tamilians till 1953, except running some meals hotels here and there. Ofcourse no complaints, it is only the observation. Regarding development of Bombay by Gujaratis when it was Bombay State, true, Bombay was developed by Gujaratis and Parsees, but Gujaratis demanded for a separate State in 1961 and got it, voluntarily giving up the claim on Bombay, whereas Andhra was pushed out from the Combined State in 2014. There were physical attacks on Andhras in 1969 and in 1972 even women were not spared, though there were no physical attacks in the 12 _ 13 years before 2014, there were bagful of abuses against Andhras during this period which no self-respecting person can stomach it.Mind you there were no regrets from Telangana side on this count. Because of this and for many other reasons, the opinion is, it was a mistake to merge with Telangana in 1956. In spite of all this, if Andhras are still moving to Hyderabad, it is their own judgment. It should not be forgotten Shiva Sena made South Indians their targets in Mumbai in late sixties and again UP, Biharis were chased out by Shiva Sena very recently. Past can repeat in future also, only a small spark is enough for the trouble, it could be in Mumbai or elsewhere.

@sree rama raju gadiraju don’t think AP lost . AP is not on loosing side dear brother. things just didn’t work out thats it.
I would like to express one more thing.
population also plays a key role in generating a large economy in countries like india. May be andhra and telangana are divided. still , andhra people are already most welcome here and having good cultural relationships in hyderabad , and other cities too. I wish , if telangana people are also welcomed into andhra for business or something or the other opportunities , both sides development takes place in rapid pace. also, unity gives us lots of strength to protect our telugu heritage , culture , etc.

I am telugu person in Chennai. Here in Tamilnadu there are lakhs of Telugu person leaving in Chennai we don’t feel any problem we are happy an leaving together with Tamilian but what happened in Andhra now it is splited as Telangana in between Telugu community with same language no Unity.

    1. Te

Telangana was mixed into Andhra in a hasty manner during independence. It never should have been. Nijam didn’t take care of education there so Andhra people got all those jobs and eventually Telangana (Hyderabad state) people wanted to divide. Infact they were never happy with the union cause it was all done in a day.
