In the final chapter, “Why did India fail?”, Dixit admits that he “overestimated the sincerity and the political will of Jayewardene to come to a genuine compromise with the Tamils with the help of the Government of India”. Dixit says that his assessment that Jayewardene “will be decisive in neutralising Premadasa and Lalith Athulathmudali and their policies against Tamils and the Agreement also proved wrong” (pages 344-45). India Rajeev Gandhi cheated Prabhakaran and Elam Tamils … Still India is cheating the Elam Tamils ..including you

There are multiple organizations started TNT, PLOTE, TELO, LTTE. Eventually LTTE survived. There are lot of internal clashes between these groups and LTTE managed to wipe those. Remember Prabhakaran arrested in T.Nagar shooting was with another organization member. Really Prabhakaran is a visionary. Still remember 2002, the Guardian revealed article top 5 Guerrila forces. Al Qaeda, LTTE, Chechnya’s, Hamas and another I don’t recollect. They mentioned about these organizations strengths. Unfortunately LTTE vision for fighting is against oppression but portrayed as terrorist organizations. Due to their political assassinations.

@Semmai Ulagam True to an extent Bro. All these domain concepts are after internet age. But those Organizations are formed in late 80’s. As I told the T Nagar shoot out is occurred in 82 or 83 I guess. Shootout between Prabhakaran and Uma Maheshwaran from PLOTE. Yes LTTE and PLOTE become rivalry. People regularly follow LTTE and Prabhakaran May know these things. Even 3 months back former LTTE member stayed in Virugbakkam Chennai got arrested by IB. He was involved in organizing funds in the past. Internet May not be accurate but certain incidents occurred in the past and those not false or fake right.

When Dixit explained the wide gap between Tamil aspirations and what Sinhalese-dominated governments were prepared to offer, Bhandari chided him “for not having a positive attitude”. “The punchline in his admonition,” Dixit writes, was that “I must not function in the mindset of Indira Gandhi and G. Parthasarathy period” (page 42). Norway and the United States were attempting to secure a cease-fire, to negotiate exile for Prabhakaran, and to explore other exit strategies that would effectively keep the LTTE alive to fight another day, po liti cally or militarily. For politicians and leaders in India, whether in Tamilnadu or in Delhi, this was not an acceptable stance or outcome.Despite differences in public posture on the issue in Tamilnadu and Delhi, there was cross-party private understanding on the basics of policy toward Sri Lanka with both the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) party and the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) party, as a result of considerable hard work by Pranab Mukherjee and Narayanan, as I found when I met alone with with very senior Tamilnadu politicians in Chennai, away from the glare of publicity.
